The Agripower Australia team has just grown. Director Peter Prentice welcomed two highly credentialled heavyweights in their respective fields of expertise: Sarah Russell French comes from Corteva Agriscience as Agripower’s inaugural Regulatory Affairs Manager and Ben Foster joins as Manager, Marketing & Sales. Both came to Agripower during the COVID19 lockdown period. Fortunately, Sarah was already in Australia while Ben, coming from Basel Switzerland in his previous capacity as a leader within Syngenta’s Sales & Marketing group, had to leave his family behind for a number of months as international travel restrictions kicked in. Both Ben and Sarah have now well and truly got their feet under their desks and Ben is reunited with his family.
“Both Sarah and Ben bring significant and broad experience to Agripower at a time when we are experiencing a transformative period in the Company as we take ourselves to the next level – the international market. Both have global experience which is invaluable, and we are extremely fortunate in having secured two such outstanding individuals for these key managerial positions” said Peter Prentice.
On being asked what brought Sarah to the world of agriculture and ultimately Agripower, it seems interest began early.
“My passion for agriculture started at a young age with horses, so a career in agriculture seemed the next logical step. Once entering the workforce as a graduate, I combined two of my key interests – agriculture and politics, to move into the world of regulatory sciences. To be successful in regulatory you need to have the technical skills of a scientist and be able to think like a politician. The majority of my career focussed on biotechnology and genome editing, both novel areas of science, at the multi-national level. When the opportunity presented itself to work in a different but yet similarly ground-breaking and unique industry, that of biogenic silicon fertilisers, I was thrilled to make the move to Agripower” says Sarah.
“To work for an innovate Australian company, as the Regulatory Affairs Lead, and a key person on the management team is a challenging and exciting prospect. Agriculture is an ever-evolving industry that has a strong drive towards environmental sustainability, technology development, food security and unique, affordable, green solutions. Continued rapid population growth requires us to empower and enable people to feed our ever-growing world. Agripower is at the forefront of this drive, and through our leading unexampled product portfolio, both current and future, we are able to help achieve these goals both locally and internationally. I am delighted to be a member of the team at Agripower and look forward to the adventure that awaits as we continue to grow.”
Ben’s path to Agripower includes working with Dow AgroSciences and a long period with Syngenta, where his work culminated in developing global sales and marketing capabilities and launching key global digital marketing strategies and initiatives within EAME and APAC.
“After having worked for large multinational companies over the course of my career, with the past seven years based in Europe, I was excited to return to Australia and join the Agripower team which is in an exciting phase of expansion into global markets,” said Ben.
“Our world is changing, with continued commodity price and regulation pressure and a drive towards more sustainable agriculture. The future of agriculture is all about doing more with less in an increasingly unstable environment. With the challenge of feeding and clothing a growing world population, current and future generations of farmers will be turning more heavily to data and technology, to drive their decisions to provide food and fibres in a sustainable way. These changes and disruptions give Agripower a unique opportunity to be a key player in helping to shape the future of agriculture in the new era.”
With its new Charters Towers production plant commissioned late 2019, Ben’s insights will be crucial in establishing a new focus on getting the message about the biggest change to fertiliser management in 90 years out to the international marketplace.
“Agripower’s unique product range positions it to support agriculture in these changing times. I believe a critical aspect of my role is to ramp up the awareness of Agripower and Agrisilica®. This can be achieved by developing a global commercial team to capture value for the business, while delivering best in class customer experience. I look forward to the journey with Agripower and sharing in the success,” said Ben.
“We are thrilled to have Sarah and Ben with us and despite the challenges COVID19 has presented, we are already seeing the impact of our latest team members”, said Director, Peter Prentice.
